Ms. Elisabeth Malka, vice-president of Vaasa University of Applied Sciences (VAMK), Finland, led a delegation to Hubei University of Technology (HBUT), October 13, 2011. HBUT Vice-president Dong Shijie received the delegation. Based upon the existing partnership, HBUT and VAMK reviewed the progress of collaboration, expecting to promote and expand cooperation for the purposes of mutual development. 
October 17, 2011, VAMK President Tauno Kekäle visited HBUT and was warmly welcomed by HBUT President Liu Defu. Subsequently, the two universities amended and extended the cooperative agreement, particularly regarding the HBUT-VAMK duel degree program, increasing the student enrollment number and enlarging the cooperative scope. 
HBUT and VAMK have been in close partnership for years, organizing staff, faculty member and student exchange programs on a frequent basis. The HBUT-VAMK duel degree program in the fields of International Business and Information Technology is especially popular among HBUT students. More than 40 students have benefited from the duel degree program, obtaining opportunities to get further educated in Finland. In 2010, HBUT received the first group of 5 VAMK students for exchange study.
